The United Nations has closed its offices in Pakistan, FOX News confirms, and has directed its staff members to work from their homes.
U.N. offices will remain closed on Friday and Saturday on rising security concerns, and U.N. staffers in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been directed not to visit any public places, according to a statement issued by the U.N. resident coordinator in Pakistan, Fikret Akcura.
The security concerns come as the Pakistani Army anticipates a possible tactical shift by the Taliban to heightened terrorist activity in the war-torn country, FOX News correspondent Scott Heidler reports from Pakistan.
The next two to three days are crucial and the U.N. staff in Pakistan will perform its duties from their residences.
A decision on further course of action will be taken after reviewing the security situation on Sunday.
