Groups offering advice on abortion could run TV and radio ads in Britain for the first time under proposed changes to the nation's advertising codes.

The new rules proposed Thursday are aimed at reducing teen pregnancies.

Groups seeking to advertise pregnancy-related services would have to say specifically if the help they offer includes information about abortion or not.

The new rules also would allow condom ads to run earlier in the day — not just during evening programing. The condom ads could not run around programs aimed at kids under 10.

The proposal is subject to approval by Ofcom, the government broadcast regulator.
