Two U.S. soldiers have been killed in action, one of them in Baghdad, the U.S. military said Sunday.

One soldier was killed Saturday when an insurgent hurled a grenade at his vehicle in a northern neighborhood of the capital, the U.S. statement said.

The other soldier died Saturday when a patrol came under fire north of Baghdad, the statement said, without giving a specific location.

Both soldiers were assigned to Multinational Division-Baghdad, whose area includes the capital but extends north into Salahuddin province.
