KABUL, Afghanistan – Two homicide bombers killed two U.S.-led coalition soldiers and six Afghan civilians in near-simultaneous attacks in Kandahar on Saturday, officials said.
A homicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a coalition vehicle, killing the two soldiers and wounding eight of their comrades, said Maj. Scott Lundy, the spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition forces.
Shortly after first blast, a second suicide bomber approached a crowd of people on foot and detonated his vest, killing six bystanders and wounding 20 others, said Dawood Ahmadi, the spokesman for the governor of Kandahar. No coalition members were hit in the second blast, Lundy said.
Both suicide bombers died in the blasts, Ahmadi said.
An eyewitness, Haji Agha, said a military helicopter landed and took the injured soldiers.
