And now the most telling two minutes in television, the latest from the wartime grapevine:

More Americans Believe Saddam Possessed WMD’s

Today is the seventh day in a row that no U.S. soldier has died in Iraq…marking the longest such stretch since Operation Iraqi Freedom (search) began in March.

Meanwhile, a new poll taken before President Bush's speech last night shows that 78 percent of Americans say it was "likely" that Saddam Hussein had developed weapons of mass destruction (search). That number is up from anytime over the past year.

In addition, the Washington Post poll shows 82 percent of Americans say it was "likely" that Saddam provided assistance to al Qaeda (search). What's more, the poll shows that 69 percent say it was "likely" that Saddam was personally involved in the 9/11 atrocities.

Happy Meals for Detainees

Amnesty International (search) says the U.S. is holding detainees in Guantanamo Bay under possibly cruel, inhuman or degrading conditions, including confinement to small cells that offer, "minimal opportunity for exercise." But the Baltimore Sun, which visited Guantanamo Bay, reported no such environment.

In fact, Guantanamo Bay detainees are now getting Twinkies, cupcakes and McDonald's Happy Meals for talking to interrogators. One camp officer says Happy Meals especially get detainees to talk because they, "got a toy and everything."

Retro-Kerry?

Presidential candidate and Massachusetts Senator John Kerry's (search) recent objections to the handling of the war on terrorism seem to be taking him back to where he once stood on the use of American force against terrorist regimes. After saying he, "completely support[ed]" the war in Afghanistan and after voting to authorize the use of force in Iraq, Kerry now has become a critic of the war.

He sounds more like the John Kerry of 1986, who strongly opposed the Reagan administration's decision to bomb Libyan Dictator Moammar Khadafy's compound in Tripoli in retaliation for a disco bombing in Berlin that killed two Americans and a Turkish woman, and injured about 250 others.

This despite the fact that Kerry said it was, "irrefutable" that Khadafy was behind the disco bombing.

Statistics from the Social Security Administration show that no name has gone out of style faster in the U.S. than the name Hillary did after the Clintons moved into the White House. “Hillary" became one of the nation's 1,000 most-popular names in the 1960s and steadily climbed in popularity through 1992, when it was the 136th most popular girl's name in the nation.

But the next year that all changed, and within nine years the name stopped ranking altogether. It took more than three times that long for Adolph…as in Adolph Hitler…and Ebenezer…as in Ebenezer Scrooge…to fall off the charts.
