President Bush said today that U.S. troops in Afghanistan would remain under U.S. control despite Afghan President Hamid Karzai's (search) request for more authority over them. Carl Cameron has more on the Afghan leader’s meeting at the White House.
Then, Bret Baier will have the latest from Iraq as a car bomb exploded today at a Baghdad (search) restaurant popular with police, killing at least four people and wounding about 70, and militants assassinated a top national security official.
And in the Senate, negotiations continue behind Senate closed doors to work out a last minute agreement on judicial nominations (search) as a vote may come as early as tomorrow. Major Garrett has the details.
President Bush on Friday promised to veto legislation that would clear the way for federal funding of research on new embryonic stem cell (search) lines. Votes are scheduled Tuesday on that bill and what GOP leaders are offering as an alternative. Jim Angle has a report.
Plus, Megyn Kendall has a report on first lady Laura Bush's (search) trip to the Middle East after she was met by protests over the weekend in Jerusalem. Can the first lady help U.S. relations with the Muslim world after the Newsweek’s flap over the Koran story?
