• A commuter plane crashed into a maintenance hangar at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport Wednesday, killing all 21 people aboard. Police spokesman Keith Bridges said two more people, who were in the hangar, are missing. "The plane is so destroyed there's not much to see," Bridges said. "The debris is in such bad shape."

Nineteen passengers and two crew members were on board the Beech 1900 twin-engine turboprop, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown said.

• The United States offered talks with North Korea on Tuesday but said it will not negotiate to halt that nation's nuclear weapons programs. North Koreans rallied in Pyongyang calling for a stronger military. "We are not going to pay again for North Korea to live up to its obligations," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said. He referred to a pledge North Korea took in 1994 to freeze the weapons programs in exchange for supplies of energy and a civilian-style reactor.

• The 25 women vying for an engagement ring on The Bachelor were well aware of the trophy boy's stats, but a new show has a surprise ending that may leave contestants more brokenhearted than ever — or just plain broke. Joe Millionaire, a new Fox TV show, features 20 single women who fly to France to vie for the hand of a handsome American they are told is worth $50 million. But "Evan," who will tug at their heartstrings, actually only pulls in $19,000 annually working as a construction worker. Has reality TV gone too far?
