WASHINGTON – The Tiffany & Co. Foundation is donating $1.1 million to the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
The gift is intended to establish a new set of precious gems within the museum's National Gem Collection, one of the institution's most popular exhibits.
"The National Gem Collection is the pre-eminent collection of its kind in America and this endowment will enhance the collection for generations to come," said museum director Cristian Samper.
The Tiffany & Co. Foundation is the grant-making entity of the internationally known jeweler Tiffany & Co.
