PASADENA, Calif. – Three people were hospitalized after a natural gas explosion destroyed a truck and sent a flaming tank hurtling into the air near a busy street.
No cars or people were hit by the tank, but one person was critically injured by the blast Monday and two others standing nearby were seriously hurt.
Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian says the explosion occurred as a worker at the California Linen Services textile rental business was transferring natural gas.
Derderian says a tank was blasted 1,000 feet into the air before it landed 200 feet away across the street.
She says the truck belonged to Dy-Dee Diaper Service, part of California Linen, and that all three victims were company employees.
