OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Three people face possible kidnapping and child endangerment charges for allegedly having two teenage girls pose as kidnap victims in bondage-style photos.
The apparent stunt occurred over the weekend in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park.
The three suspects are the 37-year-old uncle of one of the photographed girls, his 17-year-old daughter and her 29-year-old boyfriend.
The two men who are suspects were being held on drug possession charges. No kidnapping-related charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
Police said the girls, ages 14 and 15, were taken to a hotel and given alcohol and possibly narcotics. The uncle allegedly told the girls he wanted to tie them up and pinch their arms so it would look like they had been kidnapped.
Police believe all three suspects then took pictures of the girls, who eventually were let go.
The girls are from Nebraska and were in the Kansas City area for an amusement park trip. Police said the girls were visiting the uncle at his house when he told everyone to leave and go to the hotel. The incident happened Friday night and Saturday morning.
Afterward, the girls told the mother of the 14-year-old, and police were alerted.
"We're taking this serious, absolutely," Overland Park police spokesman Jim Weaver said Monday. "We're considering (the girls) victims."
