You wouldn't know it from the way she is all over the media promoting her new film, but Oscar-winning Renee Zellweger (search) is taking an extended break from acting. After "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" opens Friday, the 35-year-old said she plans to step away from the limelight, stop acting for a while and learn what it is like to be "just a girl." Forget Irish actor Colin Farrell (search) as the next James Bond. He says the shaking and stirring isn't for him. License to kill no thrill. All this despite the endorsement of outgoing Bond Pierce Brosnan. Is all this designed to get Pierce the part one more time?

Broadway star Nathan Lane (search) won a thunderous ovation this week when he stepped in at the last moment to replace Hollywood veteran Richard Dreyfuss in the London premiere of the hit musical "The Producers." The British, normally much more reserved than Broadway audiences, went wild for Lane.

Where was Sarah Jessica Parker? If she wears the same shoe size as Oprah (search), she could have picked up pricey Manolo Blahnik shoes at $25 a pair. Oprah had a big closet sale on the air. Her staff got first dibs at the tag sale, then lucky plus-size audience members went on the spree. Get this, she sold over 1,000 items and barely put a dent in the closet.
