You know a lot of people ask me why I include nasty, sometimes downright mean e-mail. Frankly, because I don't have a problem with it. And besides, if I'm going to dish it out, I better be able to take it. I figure in this business, it's part of the business.

So if I'm going to get hot under the collar, I have to allow my viewers to get hot under the collar as well. But try telling that to the Dixie Chicks (search). Or Susan Sarandon. Or Tim Robbins. Or Barbra Streisand.

Boy, they can heap it on. But god forbid they get heaped on.

I guess the Dixie Chicks feel it's their right to criticize the president and it is. But they fail to see the fact it's their fans' right to say they don't want to be fans anymore as a result.

Tim Robbins says he's free to criticize this war in Iraq. But those opposed to his views aren't free to criticize his criticisms? I figure, if you take a stand, take your lumps.

Many viewers have written me to let me know one or two or more of my views have prompted them to switch channels. I regret them leaving. But I can't control them leaving. Frankly, I'm not going to change.

So, good-bye.

Look, in this business you have to have a thick skin. No problem here. You can see by the looks of me, mine is plenty thick. But I just want to recommend the same for all those in Hollywood who love to dish but don't like being “dissed.”

I say, wake up and suck it up. If you take a stand you had better be prepared to take some heat.

Besides, it looks awfully hypocritical for you to rant and rave about shock and awe. Then be shocked and awed that others are ranting and raving back at you.
