GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida police are investigating a swastika found painted on a Jewish fraternity house that is under construction.
University of Florida Police Capt. Jeff Holcomb says the swastika painted on a wall at Alpha Epsilon Pi is being investigated as criminal mischief, but it could be bumped up to a hate crime if an arrest is made.
Fraternity member Alex Mehler says the incident was "a blatant act of anti-Semitism." Members first noticed the Nazi emblem last week and reported it to police Sunday.
The fraternity plans to move into its new house in the fall.
