A 7-year-old girl from the U.K., who was born with a menacing birthmark, has gone through an amazing transformation, it is reported.

According to the Daily Mail, Becky Prosser was born with a tiny red mark on her forehead. But it wouldn't stay that way for long. It soon developed into a red stain which spread across half her face within six weeks, threatening her eyesight and preventing her from eating.

"It was as though an alien being was taking her over," the girl's mom Debbie told the newspaper. "I felt so helpless just watching this thing destroy my baby's face."

Doctors diagnosed hemangioma, which is one of the most common types of birthmarks. It develops when blood vessels group together in one place under the skin. The congenital condition typically appears as a small benign birthmark but in rare cases can spread aggressively, the Daily Mail reported.

The family was referred to a specialist and after 18 months of treatment, the growth was finally eliminated, according to the report.

"When I look back at the desperate times we went through I can't believe things have turned out so well," said her mother. "I want other families in a similar situation to know there is light at the end of the tunnel."
