AnnTaylor Stores Corp. (ANN) is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings of 40 cents a share, according to analysts polled by Thomson First Call.

Kirkland's Inc. (KIRK) is seen posting a fourth-quarter per-share profit of 50 cents.

After Thursday's closing bell, DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. (DWA) said its fourth-quarter profit plunged 67% as compared with a year-earlier quarter bolstered by the blockbuster performance of the theatrical film "Shark Tale" and the debut of "Shrek 2" on home video.

Big Five Sporting Goods (BGFV) earned $7.7 million, or 34 cents a share in its fourth quarter, down from $9.5 million or 42 cents in the year-ago period. Sales at the retailer came in at $218.9 million, up from $217.6 million, while same-store sales grew 1.5%. The average estimate of analysts polled by Thomson First Call was for the company to earn 33 cents a share on revenue of $219 million.

Hibbett Sporting Goods Inc. (HIBB) said fourth-quarter net income was $9.9 million, or 29 cents a share, compared with $8.1 million, or 23 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. The Birmingham, Ala.-based retailer said sales rose 12.8% to $120.8 million from last year's $107.1 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected, on average, earnings of 28 cents a share.

J. Jill Group Inc. (JILL) turned in a 17% increase in fourth-quarter earnings to end a choppy and disappointing year. For the quarter, the women's-wear retailer said it made $3.04 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with last year's profit of $2.6 million, or 13 cents a share. Net sales climbed 9.6% to $131 million from $119.4 million a year ago. Sales at stores open longer than a year declined 3%. The per-share results matched the expectation of analysts reporting to Thomson First Call.

Kellwood Co. (KWD) reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $12.5 million, or 49 cents a share, up 77% from $7.06 million, or 25 cents a share, during the year-ago period. Revenue at the apparel maker fell to $473.4 million from $495.5 million.

McData Corp. (MCDTA)/(MCDT) said it earned $5.3 million, or 3 cents a share, up from a loss of $80,000, or break-even results per share, in the comparable period a year ago. Excluding items, the company would have posted a profit of $12.6 million, or 8 cents a share, up from $6.8 million, or 6 cents a share, and ahead of analysts' expectations. Revenue for the period ended Jan. 31 rose to $181.8 million from $105.7 million, also topping the average of estimates. On average, Wall Street analysts expected the maker of network storage devices and software to report a profit of 6 cents a share before items on revenue of $180.4 million, according to a Thomson First Call survey.

Pitney Bows Inc. (PBI) said its board approved buying back an additional $300 million of company stock, boosting its overall stock repurchase plan to $500 million. The company said it expects to buy back about $350 million worth of its common shares this year, including purchases already made. Separately, the company said completion of a proposed spin-off of its Capital Services external financing business would likely be delayed until 2007 by a SEC request to provide three years of audited statements from the unit. The company also agreed to sell Imagistics International. Inc. lease portfolio, part of Capital Services' portfolio, to a unit of the Dutch Rabobank Group for $280 million to $290 million.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. (QTWW) said the third-quarter net loss was $10.8 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $2.92 million, or 9 cents a share, during the same period last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected a per-share loss of 9 cents. The vehicle engineering company's quarterly revenue was $36 million, compared with $5.39 million last year. Analysts were looking for revenue of $51 million.

Trimeris Inc. (TRMS) reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $3.77 million, or 17 cents a share. During the same period a year ago, the biopharmaceutical company posted a net loss of $5.72 million, or 27 cents a share. Revenue rose to $7.96 million from $536,000 a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast a fourth-quarter loss of a penny a share on revenue of $6 million.

Universal Display Corp. (PANL) reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $4.64 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $3.53 million, or 11 cents a share, during the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $2.3 million from $1.69 million a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $3 million.
