Spiritual Songs a Hit at CMT Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Videos for three songs with spiritual themes are among the leading nominees at Monday's Country Music Television awards show.

Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take the Wheel" is nominated for female video of the year, breakthrough video and inspiring video; Brooks & Dunn's "Believe" is up for video of the year, group/duo video and inspiring video; and Brad Paisley's duet with Dolly Parton, "When I Get Where I'm Going," is nominated for collaborative video, inspiring video and best director.

But there's something for everyone at the fan-voted awards show, which airs live on CMT. Trace Adkins' sexy "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" is up for three awards, while Paisley's humorous "Alcohol" and Gretchen Wilson's rowdy "All Jacked Up" for one each.

Faith Hill's duet with husband Tim McGraw, "Like We Never Loved At All," has nominations for video of the year, collaborative video and best director. Hill also is nominated for female video for "Mississippi Girl."

Others receiving multiple nominations include Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith, as well as newcomers Miranda Lambert and Sugarland.

The show is hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy with performances by Keith, Chesney, Adkins, Wilson, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts and Brooks & Dunn.

Fans voted online through April 7 to determine the winners in each category except video of the year, which will be voted on during the live telecast.

Hank Williams Jr. will receive the Johnny Cash Visionary Award for his contributions to country music, joining such previous winners as Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire and the Dixie Chicks.

Dwight Yoakam will pay tribute to his longtime friend and mentor Buck Owens, who died of a heart ailment March 25.
