SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The son of a late San Francisco pornography mogul has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered his ex-girlfriend and kidnapped their 1-year-old daughter.
James "Rafe" Mitchell pleaded not guilty to murder, assault, child abduction and other charges during an appearance Friday in Marin County Superior Court.
Authorities say Mitchell fatally beat 29-year-old Danielle Keller and abducted their daughter, Samantha, in Novato on July 12. He was later arrested near Sacramento.
The 27-year-old Mitchell was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 5.
Mitchell is the son of "Behind the Green Door" director Jim Mitchell, who co-owned an adult entertainment empire of films and theaters.
