Educators in the Indian River School District will receive training after two teachers at Sussex Central High School were arrested for inappropriate sexual contact with students this week.

Indian River Superintendent Susan Bunting says training for all staff is planned June 15 to 18.

She says background criminal checks and child protection registry searches didn't show anything of concern against 25-year-old John Rainis, of Lewes, and 26-year-old John Thompson, of Dagsboro.

Rainis, a former physical education substitute and athletic trainer, is accused of making sexual comments while putting his hand inside an 18-year-old's shorts while treating her for a leg injury.

Social studies teacher Thompson is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old.
