A second man arrested over the murders of French students Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo has been taken to hospital.

The pair, both aged 23, were killed in a frenzied attack at a rented bedsit in New Cross, south east London, last week.

Metropolitan Police officials said the 33-year-old suspect was arrested after handing himself in at a south London police station.

He was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital.

A 21-year-old man also questioned in connection with the deaths was released earlier without charge.

Both men had been tied up, repeatedly stabbed and set alight.

Mr Bonomo was knifed nearly 200 times - up to 80 of the wounds inflicted after he was dead - while Mr Ferez suffered nearly 50 wounds.
