The Coast Guard says a fishing trawler has run aground on a Bering Sea island and its five crew members have been safely rescued.

There are no reported injuries among the crew members, who were hoisted from the 112-foot trawler by helicopter.

Petty Officer Sara Francis says the Seattle-based Mar-Gun reported that it was taking on water shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday.

It later reported it ran aground at the north end of Saint George Island, 760 miles southwest of Anchorage. The crew members are being examined at a clinic on nearby Saint Paul Island.

Francis says the trawler is carrying 15,000 gallons of diesel. No fuel has been reported spilled. The cause of the mishap will be investigated.
