A retirement party is being planned in Saratoga Springs, New York, for a favorite horse.

Funny Cide will be the guest of honor at a party to be held at Saratoga Race Course next Friday.

The 7-year-old gelding became the first New York-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. He won the first two Triple Crown races in 2003 before coming in third in the Belmont.

His owners retired him last month and are stabling him this summer at the Saratoga track, not far from the local farm where he was born and raised.

Next week's festivities will include an autograph session with the horse's former jockey, Hall of Famer Jose Santos, who announced his own retirement earlier this week.

Funny Cide will make an appearance on the main track during that day's races.
