"They have covered the entrance and refuse to come out and are threatening to blow themselves up" using a gas tank, an official said of the 29 adults and four children.

A police spokeswoman said the cult members, who reportedly believe the end of the world will come in May, have been in the snow-covered cave in central Russia since Nov. 7. Police said they expect them to exit their new dwelling once supplies run out.

The group’s leader, Pyotr Kuznetsov, 43, was detained by police and has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, Russian media reported.
