Katie Holmes' rep dismissed a report that the actress and Tom Cruise are planning a trial separation as "absolutely false."

"She and her husband enjoy a close and loving relationship," Holmes' spokeswoman said, according to WENN.

In Touch magazine reports that Holmes plans to move to Manhattan from Los Angeles with the couple's daughter Suri to pursue dreams of acting on Broadway.

Sources tell the magazine that the actress is tired of dressing up as Mrs. Cruise and playing the perfect wife in public.

One insider says, "Of course Katie still loves him [Tom], but she does often feel like the little wife that has to sit there quietly and smile serenely at everything he says."

Meanwhile, studio bosses originally wanted Cruise for the lead role in "Edward Scissorhands," WENN reports.

Johnny Depp was only hired after the team began to question Cruise's suitability for such an edgy project, according to WENN.

"They (movie bosses) were interested in me for the part, but had someone else in mind too. A few days later, they called me to say the studio preferred the other actor," Depp reportedly said.

"(It was) Tom Cruise. I was really disappointed. From the moment I read the script, I knew I had to be in it. But I understood that the studio wanted a box office superstar. Then a miracle happened. My agent called to say they wanted me instead."
