Rosie O’Donnell’s next gig could be as an angry soccer coach on the NBC show “Friday Night Lights,” according to TMZ.

Citing Michael Ausiello from TV Guide, TMZ reported Wednesday that the producers of “Friday Night Lights” — which hasn’t garnered huge ratings but has wowed plenty of critics — are preparing to offer O’Donnell a recurring role on the show.

The show’s executive producer Jason Katims told Ausiello that the character O’Donnell — if she accepts — would play is a soccer coach who is livid about the fact that all the school’s resources are devoted to football.

The coach would be in six or seven episodes of the new season, he said.

“It’s a really funny character, and I think she’d be perfect for it,” Katims told Ausiello.
“Rosie’s a big fan of ‘Friday Night Lights,’ as we know from ‘The View,’ and we heard she was interested in being on the show.”

O'Donnell was moderator of ABC's "The View" for most of last year, snatching huge ratings for the network and stirring up plenty of controversy in the process.
