"North Korea is ready to implement the Sept. 19 pledge, but there cannot be a situation where it unilaterally gives up the nuclear" program, Kim Kye Gwan said in Beijing after a meeting with his South Korean counterpart, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

The Sept. 19 pledge refers to the only agreement made last year during six-nation talks on the North's nuclear ambitions, where it agreed to abandon its atomic program in exchange for security guarantees and aid.
