The AP-AOL Games poll on public attitudes about gaming is based on telephone interviews with 3,024 adults, including 1,046 who play electronic games, in the United States from all states except Alaska and Hawaii.

The interviews were conducted April 18-20 and 24-27 by Ipsos, an international polling firm.

Results were weighted to represent the population by demographic factors such as age, sex, region, race and income. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points for those who play electronic games. The margin of error for the full sample of adults is plus or minus 2 percentage points.

There are other sources of potential error in polls, including the wording and order of questions. Results may not total 100 percent because of rounding.
