The Sunday school teacher accused of murdering an 8-year-old Northern California girl is due back in court, and prosecutors want her to enter a plea.

Twenty-eight-year-old Melissa Huckaby is scheduled to make her fourth court appearance Friday. She's charged with murder, rape and kidnapping in the death of Sandra Cantu.

Huckaby's arrest in April came days after the girl's body was found in a suitcase pulled from an irrigation pond.

Deputy District Attorney Thomas Testa asked a judge earlier this week to enter a plea on Huckaby's behalf, if she's not willing to enter one herself.

Huckaby's lawyer has repeatedly requested more time to review evidence in the case.

Huckaby could face the death penalty if convicted.
