The preliminary hearing for a former transit police officer charged with murder in the fatal shooting of an unarmed man was scheduled to continue Tuesday, with the focus still on videos taken of the incident.

During Monday's proceedings for BART officer Johannes Mehserle, footage captured at the scene was played that showed Mehserle firing a shot into Oscar Grant's back.

One witness who was videotaping the incident told the court that Mehserle appeared what she termed "dumfounded" after the shooting.

Mehserle — who has since resigned from the BART police department — has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.

His lawyer says he intended to pull his stun gun but accidentally grabbed his pistol.

The hearing is expected to last two weeks.
