LOS ANGELES – Carrie Underwood is certainly living the fairy-tale existence most young women can't even dream about. She's got the looks, the money and the career — but while she doesn't have the man, Underwood says she is more than happy to stay single.
"If I found something worth finding by now I would have made time for it, but right now I'm so busy I don't need a boyfriend," she told Tarts. "This year is the year for me to be on the road and focus just on myself. That's what I want."
But is Underwood (who has been in romantic relationships with the likes of Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo and "Gossip Girls" star Chace Crawford) trying to prove a point that she don't need no male to enhance her profile or success?
While the "American Idol" alum took home three awards at last weekend's Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, she wasn't even nominated for Entertainer of the Year. In fact, no women were.
"I know several amazing female artists who should have won that award over the years and weren't even nominated," said Underwood. "I know how hard it is to be a woman in this industry. I don't want to take anything away from the guys, but as a woman you do have to work much harder than the men. Plus we have to do it in heels and all."
Taylor Swift Snaps Over Miley Cyrus
If looks could kill, there is one reporter who would definitely be dead.
Excited 18-year-old country crooner Taylor Swift cruised backstage following her win for Top Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards last weekend, but her gracious smile soon turned sour when a reporter bombarded her with questions on controversial teen starlet Miley Cyrus.
Swift (who is as humble, honest and media-friendly as they come) uncharacteristically snapped at the questioning reporter, forcing everyone to take a few steps back.
"Honestly Miley is a really good friend and an amazing person," Taylor scolded after several seconds of staring him down and twisting her mouth in anger.
Well, it's nice to know that in the show-biz world — notorious for its bitches and back-stabbers — Miley, at least, can still rely on one other famous friend to stand by her during the tough times.
Britney Busts Out, Boogies With Wacko Jacko
After bumming about in Costa Rica, Brit is back on North American shores and back to breaking out in a sweat.
Britney has frequented Bally’s Fitness Center in Studio City, Calif., quite a few times recently (although on Friday our songstress stayed inside for less than 10 minutes). However her "workout" last Wednesday was much more dramatic.
TMZ reported that exercisers were booted from a room at Spears' request because she insisted on some "privacy" while she pumped iron, leaving the regulars mighty peeved. Apparently they were offered free shirts and drink bottles by gym staff, but that was no consolation for the cranky class-goers.
Yet it seems as though Spears’ efforts at sweatin’ it out are part of a larger plan to be a successful pop princess once again.
The 26-year-old is back in the studio "just singing" and searching for a "new sound and direction" for an upcoming album, according to People magazine.
But cardio and crooning aside, Brit opted for a workout of a different nature on Friday night as she got her groove on at Christian Audigier’s (aka designer Ed Hardy’s) 50th birthday bash in Los Angeles.
We’re told Spears was on her best behavior all night (she brought daddy Jamie as her date) and was sippin’ soft drinks in the star-studded company of Kim Kardashian, Pamela Anderson, Alessandra Ambrosio, Fergie and Michael Jackson.
Yes, Wacko Jacko managed to make a very rare, mask-free party appearance and actually appeared to be looking quite healthy and happy himself.
In recent days, Britney has basically become an unofficial model for the Ed Hardy line. She takes his handbags to the gym, lounges on the beach in his bikinis and dons his T-shirts during photo ops across Los Angeles.
Interestingly, we’re told that the songstress and her mama Lynne visited Audigier’s corporate offices last month for a one-on-one with the fashion father — and Spears apparently got her pick of the merchandise.
Dallas Date: Simpson & Romo Romp Together
Two weeks ago it was reported that Jessica Simpson and her Dallas Cowboy were kaput as a couple, but after their reunion at Ashlee Simpson's wedding to Pete Wentz last weekend. it seems the two are en route to a romantic recovery.
The couple were very cozy together over the Memorial Day weekend as they canoodled in a corner booth while dining at a Dallas steakhouse, according to People.
"Like every couple, they have their issues, but they're sorting it out," an inside source told Tarts.
Christian Siriano Rejected by the Olsen Twins
He may have won over the likes of Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham and America Ferrera with his dazzling designs, but "Project Runway" winner Christian Siriano obviously isn’t up to standard for the Olsen twins.
"I’ve offered to help them and dress them, but I never hear back," the 22-year-old Maryland native told Tarts last week at the "Declare Yourself" party to encourage young people to register to vote.
"I actually love their style and can see where they’re coming from, but they need to be told they’re just too short to wear it," he added. "I think they’re over it; they don’t care anymore."
On the plus side, Siriano rated his former "boss" Heidi Klum as being on his fashion "top list," although he did admit that the sexy supermodel hasn’t always looked so lush.
"Lately, Heidi has been looking extra good when she steps out, but sometimes she looks totally ticky-tack," he said. Ouch.
