Pop Tarts: Jordin Sparks is Proud to be a Virgin But Finds Always Being a Good Girl Difficult

LOS ANGELES – Jordin Sparks has made no secret of the fact that she's a virgin and plans to stay that way until her wedding night, a personal pledge that was reinforced backstage at Sunday's American Music Awards after the songstress was presented with an un-televised award as Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. The 18-year-old was truly flattered when we gave her credit for her chastity pledge and for setting herself apart from so many other trouble-makers in Tinseltown, saying a humble thank you multiple times.

"The role model tag has definitely been thrust on me and that's something I don't take lightly," Sparks said.

The "American Idol" alum reminisced that it was just two years ago that she was sitting at home as an aspiring singer watching these very awards, but felt that there was no young performer she could really look up to as a figure of inspiration.

"That really motivated me. Being a role model is fun but I find it difficult," Sparks admitted. "I have to constantly watch myself, watch my mouth and who I hang out with."

Hmmm, perhaps that’s why Sparks has opted to take a very safe date with her when she hits the road again soon -- her grandmother.

Last month Miley Cyrus's employers, Disneyland, closed down the entire park for the first time in history so that she could celebrate her sweet 16th Birthday with 500 frenzied fans, but the "Hannah Montana" starlet celebrated her real birthday on Sunday at the American Music Awards.

Cyrus's BFF Taylor Swift surprised the starlet by putting on a birthday bash backstage, complete with balloons and a cake.

"Us girls (including Julianne Hough, Jordin Sparks and Ashley Tisdale) got together and thought it would be fun to do a little surprise party for Miley, she deserves it," Swift said.

And for a girl who pretty much has everything, what did Miss Cyrus's parents manage to come up with as a birthday gift?

"I bought Miley her very own recording studio," Billy-Ray Cyrus told Tarts proudly.

Speaking of Mr. Cyrus, an eyewitness also told us that the "Achy Breaky Heart" star's face fell when the Awards Show host Jimmy Kimmel took a jab at his beloved daughter's new-found freedom.

"Miley can get her drivers license now," Kimmel said. "Maybe she can Scott Weiland (41-year-old estranged "Velvet Revolver" rocker) a ride home ..." Ouch.

Brad Paisley was pretty pumped to have beaten Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney to take the honors for Favorite Male Country Artist at the American Music Awards, but when he called his wife (actress Kimberly Williams) to tell her the good news immediately after the announcement she had another man on her mind.

"She whispered that she was in the movies and had the show tiVoed and couldn’t talk," Paisley said. "She was watching the new Bond or something so I guess she was having a good night … with James Bond."

Paisley also ‘fessed up to being the ultimate prankster and admitted that he recently made Julianne Hough film a video where she broke up with their other touring partner, Chuck Wicks, and played it for a live audience.

"He was devastated, here Julianne was telling him it was over in front of all these people," he told Tarts, adding that it was just his nasty idea of fun and that the romantic relationship between Wicks and Hough really is going very strong.

On the note of country crooners, it is certainly starting to look like fellow winners Rascal Flatts have a thing for young hot blondes. After touring earlier this year with the energetic Taylor Swift, the "Me & My Gang" boys are getting ready to hit the road with the pop-turned-country songstress, Jessica Simpson. Although Flatts assured us that Simpson was given no special consideration because of her high profile.

"We listened to tons of artists, but we felt that Jessica Simpson was a great fit for us and we thought it would be a good marriage for us so-to-speak," the band said, also hinting that Simpson could be collaborating with them on a song in their upcoming album.

"We like pushing the envelope," they said with a sly smile.

Nicolette Sheridan Celebrates 45th Birthday With a David Spade Makeout Session

Just a few weeks ago, Pop Tarts spotted Nicolette Sheridan and David Spade getting particularly friendly at the opening of stylish new Beverly Hills restaurant, Luau, but it looks as though their relationship is getting pretty hot and heavy.

Sheridan celebrated her 45th Birthday at the LA hotspot on Friday and according to an inside source, was engaged in a "full-on" make-out session with Spade in her booth.

The screen stars (who haven't admitted to dating despite numerous public sightings) arrived separately and even started the dinner at separate booths but apparently couldn't resist each other for long. We're told Spade winked at Sheridan and stood at her side while she blew out the candles on her cake before they retreated to the back booth for some serious kiss-and-cuddle time.

The "Desperate Housewife" reportedly gulped Lashes martinis all night and was joined by cast-mates Felicity Huffman and her hubby William H. Macy as well as her onscreen husband Neal McDonough and Kyle MacLachlan.

Sources very close to both parties told us that the two are just friends and are definitely not dating.
