While Jessica Simpson didn't write the track "Remember That" on her new album, it still struck a chord when she first listened to the tune about abuse.

"It was one of those moments that just moved me to tears — it's empowering. It's about that woman really standing up for herself in an abusive situation whether it is mental, physical, emotional. Everybody has dealt with abuse in some sort of way," Simpson told Pop Tarts.

"I thought it was important to tell women to take their heart and run as fast as they can if they're in that situation, because you're better than that." (Worth noting: Jess used the same "heart and run" line in her recent Elle interview.)

But unlike so many starlets who have learned not to let tabloid trash torment them, Simpson still gets hurt by what she reads and hears.

"I am a very open person, but how the media is these days makes it hard. Unfortunately people want to believe bad stuff and I just don't understand that — sometimes it is like a personal attack," Jessica said sadly. "It's a challenge for me to act like it's just part of my career. If they knew your heart, they wouldn't be talking about you like this."

But something the singer was a little more excited to talk about was becoming an aunt (we’ve heard word she’ll have a niece) and her plans to follow in younger sis Ashlee's footsteps in marriage (for the second time) and motherhood.

"I would love to be making records and making babies and hopefully I'm married in 10 years," Simpson added. "I have the dreams of every normal person. I want to be a great aunt."

Simpson will release her debut country music album "Do You Know" this weekend.

Britney Gets Some Love; Paris Gives Some Love and Vince Vaughn Finds New Love?

It seems as though a slew of stars spent their Labor Day weekend in Sin City — but surprisingly, Britney Spears was on her best behavior.

Aside from smoking up a storm, the pop princess got lots of poolside pampering at the posh Bare Pool Lounge as she hung with her famed hair stylist, Kim Vo.

MTV officials are still mum on exactly what role Brit will have when she opens this weekend's VMAs, although Pop Tarts has been told that the "Gimme More" singer has her very own private trailer (right near Christina Aguilera), but isn't listed on the rehearsal schedule as a "musical act" like she was last year.

"I'm excited to open the entire show, to say 'hi' to my fans and to be nominated," Spears said in a statement on Wednesday after MTV officially announced her involvement.

Also making her mark at numerous Vegas hotspots over the weekend was professional party gal Paris Hilton. The heiress turned up hand-in-hand with beau Benji Madden to support his twin brother, Joel Madden, who was turning the tables at the Bank in the Bellagio.

According to an eyewitness however, Hilton and Madden used every opportunity to make out and probably would have been better off somewhere a little more private.

Speaking of privacy, our spies spotted Vince Vaughn sampling sushi at the brand new Yellowtail Sushi Bar at the Bellagio. The "Wedding Crasher" star reportedly arrived with a hot brunette and another couple and requested a private dining area in the corner. He also had the restaurant stay open for an extra hour while they sampled the finest vintage wines.

We hear Vaughn and his lady friend were "affectionately" touching each other throughout the evening and left looking very lovey-dovey. ...

Kate Hudson Still Kinda Living With Chris Robinson

After six years of marriage, Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson divorced in 2007, but it seems the star-studded exes still share a lot of lovin’.

"We're still basically living together! We've figured it out," Hudson told the October issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. "I mean, obviously, nothing's perfect, but I could never look at [our divorce] as a mistake. If anything, it’s the best thing that ever happened to us."

Hilary Swank to Gain Weight

Back in 2003, two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank packed on 19 pounds (of muscle) to play a boxer in "Million Dollar Baby." According to E! Online, Swank is going to have to tip the scales again with a further 20-30 pounds in a film remake of the hit book "French Women Don’t Get Fat."

We can’t think this will be fun for the now super-small starlet, who told us last year that she stays in shape with a rigorous daily gym routine and by popping dozens of vitamin pills.
