She's considered one of the world's most beautiful women, but finding love hasn't been easy for Halle Berry.
The 40-year-old Oscar-winner was so depressed after her stormy marriage to baseball star David Justice that she almost attempted suicide, she told Parade magazine.
"I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me," she says. "She sacrificed so much for her children and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do.
"It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn't love me didn't mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."
Berry calls her second marriage, to singer Eric Benét, "really horrific."

"Ashley has always thought her nose was a little too big, so she wanted to get it done,” an Olsen insider confessed to the mag. “When she talked to her sister about it, she loved the idea. They both love changing their looks. They thought this would make them look more polished."

The latest recruit to the Jolie-Pitt party, 3-year-old Pax, was the reported target of a scary scheme by an L.A. gang.
As Angelina prepared to fly the Vietnamese toddler to his new settlement in the States, her security team reportedly learned of a plausible plot to kidnap the little one and hold him for ransom.
“They’re highly skilled operatives with little regard for human life,” the insider told Life&Style Weekly magazine.
British security sources were reportedly the first to alert Brangelina’s bodyguards about the perilous project which would have demanded $100 million for Pax’s safe return.
“Brad and Angie would have a number of days to hand over the money or risk the boy’s life,” the insider said.
Brad's rep denies the story. However, the Life&Style source insists that the star's security team informed Pitt that Pax was in legitimate danger.
When Brad (who had stayed in L.A. with Shiloh) called Angie to tell her the news, “she sobbed that she’d die if anything happened to Pax,” the report says.
Meanwhile, Us Weekly has jabbed at Jolie for “lying” about her plans to be a “stay-at-home mother."

Reformed rehabber Britney Spears has been touched with more “Toxic” tooth troubles.
The pop performer caused tabloid turmoil last Sunday when she was seen slipping into Century City Hospital with a dental dilemma.
TMZ, however, reports that Brit was rushed back into medical care Wednesday afternoon with more molar madness.
Larry Rudolph, Spears' manager, tells That Other Blog that the latest visit was once again tooth-related.
According to Star magazine, Brit is also having troubles with her baby boys, who reportedly favor their father.
"When Britney came to Kevin's house, she realized the boys felt very at home there and that there wasn't a place for her," a source told to the mag. “She hasn't had very good visits with the boys."

Britney Spears' Protection Posse Pulls Gun on Paparazzo
Since rocking out of rehab, Britney Spears has continued working on her spiritual self by returning to her Christian roots.
However, at Sunday’s services, Brit and fellow churchgoers found themselves at a “Crossroads” between faith and fright when Spears’ security reportedly pulled a gun on a prying paparazzo.
The entertainment TV show "Extra" aired footage taken outside the star-saturated Bel Air Presbyterian Church which captured security pointing a gun toward a snooping male photographer. He was reportedly detained but later released.
Later that day, Spears found herself on yet another “Crazy” course, this time tormented by “Toxic” tooth troubles.
The singer/single mom was seen smiling for the cameras as she entered Century City Medical Plaza. Despite media reports suggesting Spears was hospitalized, the bald beauty was actually treated by dentist Dr. William M. Dorfman for a suspected severed tooth.
"Reports Britney was hospitalized are all wrong. She just went to the dentist,” said her manager Larry Rudolph in a public statement. “She had a toothache. I have no more details."
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old is looking and acting more like her old self.
After lying low since her rehab release early last week, People magazine reports the performer stepped out on Friday night to bust some of her hip-hop moves at Hollywood’s Millennium Dance Complex.
Dressed in nude fishnet stockings with dance boots, black hot pants, a black long-sleeved shirt and a baseball cap over her dark brown wig, Brit’s presence served as inspiration to the group of groovers.
"The minute she walked in, she basically lit up the room," dance instructor Darrien Henning told the mag. “She did the choreography really well, in fact she came in and nailed it. All my students tried harder to get on their game.”
Spears, who is looking about 10 pounds thinner, worked up a sweat that only sushi could satisfy. The singer and a bunch of buddies were spotted collaborating with chopsticks at Bel Air’s SHU — Sushi House Unico at around 10 that evening.
Aside from her forgetting to frown and a spring in her step, there was another noticeable change in Britney’s appearance. It seems she ditched her baby brown eyes for blue-tinted contacts.
