Reporting to police anyone seen wearing a stolen, 6-foot-tall Guinness beer costume: Brilliant!

Authorities say a Detroit beer distribution company loaned the green, bottle-shaped costume to someone for Halloween. The $3,000 costume was stored in an Eastpointe garage since October.

The homeowner on Monday found out it had been stolen after the distribution company asked for the costume's return.

Eastpointe police Lieutenant Leo Borowsky says it is believed to be one of only two such costumes in the United States. It was flown to Michigan from Ireland to be used as advertising.

Borowsky says be on the look-out: the costume could be worn during upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
