Investigators who interviewed a man who anonymously reported a body in one of three unsolved murders believed to be committed by a serial killer, said he is still only a witness.

The anonymous pay phone caller alerted them to the body of Iwana Patton, who was discovered on a dirt road Feb. 24. The tipster gave an address which turned out to be a vacant lot, and police had been searching for him since. Police said Tuesday the person further explained what he was doing when he came across the body. They declined to identify the man or further disclose what he told investigators.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent Tom Davis, a criminal profiler, has determined a serial offender killed Patton, Laquetta Gunther and Julie Green. Gunther's body was found in an alley on Dec. 26, while Green's body was discovered Jan. 14 on a dirt road at a construction site. All three died of gunshot wounds. Police are withholding further details about the murders and victims, citing concerns that it could hinder their ongoing investigation.
