A spokeswoman for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport says a Northwest Airlines flight with more than 150 passengers had to make an emergency landing after an engine went out shortly after take off.

Spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said Northwest flight 1546 took off for Minneapolis just before 9 a.m. but quickly made an emergency landing after the pilot heard a noise. She didn't have any other details about what happened to one of the plane's engines.

She says the plane had 153 passengers aboard. She says they got off and Northwest was rebooking them.
