A pilot died after her propeller plane crashed into a bean field in far northwest Missouri while she practiced acrobatics for an air show.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the Edge 540 crashed Friday afternoon near U.S. 136 about 75 miles southeast of Omaha, Neb. An Edge 540 is a propeller-driven plane often used for acrobatic flying.

The 36-year-old female pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not immediately released.

The Wing Nuts Flying Circus Fly-In is being held Saturday at the nearby Gould Peterson Memorial Airport. A spokesman for the group says the event will go on as scheduled.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident.
