At least one of the VIPs who attended the dedication ceremony Thursday for the Pentagon's 9/11 memorial appears to be selling event memorabilia for hundreds, even thousands of dollars on eBay — to the horror of the Pentagon officials who organized the event.
One angry Pentagon employee told FOX News the sellers were "making money off the backs of the dead," and that the unveiling of the long-awaited memorial to the Sept. 11 attacks was supposed to be a "sacred event."
It’s unclear whether the items are coming from different sellers, or from the same seller using different accounts.
One of the auctions, out of Pasadena, Md., is asking $3,500 for what the seller calls a "memorabilia package."
"Treasure a piece of American history," the seller's page says. "The value of this memorabilia collection is sure to appreciate. The Memorial Dedication ceremonies were open to only 16,000 visitors, from around the world and you can own your piece of history."
The package is said to include the official program, lapel pin, viewing pass and dedication ticket, as well as a DVD and miniature American flag.
The item had no bids as of Friday afternoon.
Another memorabilia package out of Alexandria, Va., was asking for a starting bid of $375. Another out of Bristow, Va., was asking $400.
Neither had any bids Friday.
