The morning after Al Gore (search) denounced President Bush (search) for misleading the American public about Saddam Hussein's (search) intention to use weapons of mass destruction, newspapers around the country are now reporting that arms inspectors believe Saddam had issued orders for his troops to use chemical weapons on U.S. troops. Veteran arms inspector David Kay (search) delivered the bombshell during closed-door testimony on Capitol Hill, adding that Iraqi forces fortunately had neither the time, capability nor willingness to carry out the orders. Kay told Congress his team of 1,400 investigators reached the conclusion after conducting interviews and sifting through documents and physical evidence. Kay also conceded that his teams have yet to find any actual chemical weapons.

Presidential Poll-itics

Meanwhile, a new poll shows that the laws of gravity have caught up with President Bush's poll numbers. According to the Pew research poll, the president's approval rating has dipped to 53 percent and his disapproval rating has risen to 37 percent, his worst disapproval rating ever as president. The survey also indicates that roughly 1 percent of all voters say they have never heard of George W. Bush. Pollsters didn't ask if they had heard of hanging chads.

Name ‘Too Middle Eastern?’

A Tunisian-American, Karim Nejima, has sued Morris and Raper Realtors of Atlanta, claiming he was fired a few months after the September 11th attacks because his name sounded too Middle Eastern (search)…and he refused his employers' request that he change names. The company says it dismissed him for poor performance and suggested the name change for his own safety.
