MOSCOW – Russian officials say three drunk police officers beat a man they had detained unconscious and tried to hide it by setting him on fire.
Officials in the central city of Saratov say Armen Gasparian's body was found in a nearby forest Wednesday with massive burns.
Gasparian's widow, Svetlana Ivanova, said in televised comments that the officers who stopped a Gasparian outside a store Tuesday were trying to get evidence in a robbery investigation.
Regional prosecutors said Friday the officers had been arrested and could face life in prison if convicted.
