NEW YORK – A 24-year-old man was arrested for fatally shooting his mother and brother, chopping up their bodies and dumping them in the Harlem River, police said Tuesday.
Lamar Platt is under arrest on murder charges, the New York Police Department said, adding that the Bronx resident dumped the bodies in the river near Roberto Clemente State Park.

Scuba divers were searching for the bodies Tuesday morning.
Platt was taken in for questioning after his grandmother reported her 45-year-old daughter missing. Platt, his mother and his 22-year-old brother shared an apartment in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.
No information is available on whether Platt has been assigned a lawyer.
