NEW YORK – Police say a package containing clothing and love letters was addressed to Sweden's Princess Madeleine and sent to a New York foundation started by the princess' mother.
Police said Thursday the box sent to Queen Silvia's World Charity Foundation was apparently sent from Sweden. It also contained a tape recorder. Police didn't have details on the clothing.
The foundation called police. The bomb squad responded but no explosives were found.
The 27-year-old Madeleine is engaged. She is visiting New York, but was not at the foundation when the package arrived Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for the Swedish royal court in Stockholm said she did not know what was in the package, but nothing dangerous was found.
Madeleine is third in line to the Swedish throne.
