For some people, beauty is in the hand of the beholder, or it will be once Sega and cosmetics giant Shiseido release "Project Beauty" for Nintendo DS in late November, Agence France-Presse reported on Thursday.

Women in Japan, where the software is debuting, will be able to scan images of their faces into the DS, which then focuses on facial shape and position of features in making beauty suggestions. It then matches faces to one of four types: cool, active, cute or feminine.

Users can give themselves a makeover by trying out different looks on the software, which costs $55, AFP reported.

"The same user can have a variety of make-up tips for different occasions such as business, dating or formal gatherings," Sega spokeswoman Rei Sugiyama said. "You would find colors that are good on you but you never realized before."
