Nicole Kidman was "overwhelmed" by the goodwill lavished upon her during her weekend nuptials at home in Australia, her publicist said, as the newlyweds reportedly began their honeymoon on a secluded South Pacific island.

The Hollywood star and her Nashville-based husband Keith Urban were spotted leaving Australia late Monday on a private jet, the day after getting married in a candlelit ceremony in a clifftop chapel in Sydney.

The destination was top secret, though rumors circulated that the couple booked out the luxury resort in Fiji where Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards reportedly injured himself falling from a coconut palm in April.

Manager Rob Miller declined to give any information about the resort's guests.

"We just don't release anything," Miller told The Associated Press on Tuesday, keeping with the ultra-exclusive hideaway's Web site promise that, "The first thing you do when you get to Wakaya is disappear."

Some media reports in Australia suggested Kidman and Urban went to Tahiti.

The Sunday wedding of Kidman and Urban, both raised in Australia, was the celebrity event of the year in Sydney.

Scores of photographers and at least half a dozen helicopters followed the couple's every move during their weeklong stay in Sydney, and several newspaper columns were filled each day with gossip and photos.

Hundreds of cheering fans lined the streets as Kidman's cream Rolls-Royce limousine approached the church.

Wendy Day, Kidman's Australian publicist, said the actress was made so emotional by the attention she had to be taken into a separate room to regain her composure and have her makeup reapplied before walking down the aisle, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"She wasn't just touched, she was gobsmacked, she was overwhelmed," Day was quoted as saying. "She couldn't believe the amount of support and warmth and ... Australian-ness that was there for her."

Day refused to disclose the honeymoon plans, saying the couple wanted privacy.

Several reports have suggested the pair have spent up to 250,000 Australian dollars ($183,000) to hire out the Wakaya Club Resort for a week, where Kidman is reported to have a favorite villa.

The ultra-exclusive island resort is a preferred destination for superstars seeking to avoid the prying eyes of paparazzi and celebrity gawkers.

But Fiji was once a vacation spot for Kidman and her former husband, Tom Cruise, prompting speculation she and Urban would opt instead for a resort on Tahiti's Bora Bora island.

Kidman won the best actress Oscar in 2002 for "The Hours" and Urban took home a Grammy this year for best male country vocal performance.

Kidman and Cruise separated in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. Urban was marrying for the first time Sunday. They couple plan to live in Nashville, Tennessee, Kidman has said.
