NEW YORK – Police say a drunken Bronx man took out his anger at his wife on her dog, first shooting the beagle with a BB gun then fatally stabbing the animal.
Police say the 28-year-old man plunged the kitchen knife into the animal several times after he came home at dawn, intoxicated. She apparently was angry at his condition and stormed out of the apartment.
When she returned, she found the dog lying in a pool of blood, and called 911.
Police say her husband, who had cut his hand while attacking the dog, was handcuffed and taken away by ambulance.
He was treated at a hospital and arrested on charges of injuring an animal, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
The couple was married last month.
