New York City has confirmed six more swine flu deaths, bringing the total to 38 since the outbreak began in April.

The Health Department said the victims were between the ages of 25 and 65 and most had underlying risk factors.

The total number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the city is now 1262. That figure does not represent the overall incidence of swine flu, just select cases tested for the illness. The department posted the updates on its Web site on Wednesday.
