NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Authorities say a drunken-driving suspect bit an officer during a struggle at the Lincoln County jail in North Platte after her arrest.
Police say 41-year-old Joyce Vieyra of North Platte faces several charges, including drunken driving, reckless driving, hit and run and aggravated assault on an officer, a felony.
North Platte Police Sgt. Steve Toelle says Vieyra was arrested Thursday after her vehicle was spotted doing about 80 mph near a park.
Toelle says Vieyra struggled with officers at the police station and had to be restrained.
He says that later, at the jail, Vieyra slipped out of police handcuffs and struggled with jailers and North Platte officers, biting one of the officers on an arm.
