Supporters of independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader (search) on Wednesday lost a bid to win the independent presidential candidate a spot on Idaho's general election ballot.

Judge Deborah Bail said they failed to prove that signatures of valid, registered voters were disqualified from the nominating petitions that were filed last month with the secretary of state.

Bail also said Nader's supporters had sued the wrong person — the secretary of state instead of county clerks.

It was unclear whether Nader would appeal. The judge, however, emphasized that he still has time to file as a write-in candidate. Nader was a write-in in Idaho for the 2000 presidential election
