Some New York firefighters have found a new use for a fire extinguisher — kitten extractor.

A shivering feline was heard meowing in the storm drain of a Long Island parking lot by a passer-by who reported it to authorities.

The New York Post reports firefighters rushed to the kitten's rescue and attempted to coax it out, but it was too petrified to move. So, crews used a fire extinguisher to scare it into their waiting arms.

The black and white kitten, nicknamed "Storm," has been taken to an animal hospital where it's been placed in a warming cage. Once healthy, the kitten will be up for adoption.
