N.J. Teens Fall While Scaling Building Using Sheets to Escape Parent

Two teens were injured after they fell trying to flee from a parent by scaling down the side of a building using sheets, police said.

The parent learned the girls had received alcohol and threatened to call police to find out who supplied the liquor, police said Thursday. The girls tied several sheets together and tried to climb down from a fifth-floor apartment late Wednesday night.

Both girls suffered broken bones and bruises, police said. The girls were in fair condition Thursday at University Hospital, hospital spokesman Rogers Ramsey said.

Newark police said no charges will be filed.
