BAGHDAD – Iraqi officials say at least 11 people have been killed and dozens wounded in a bombing at a market in Baghdad.
Friday's blast is the latest in a wave of attacks ahead of next week's deadline for U.S. troops to withdraw from urban areas in Iraq.
Police and hospital officials say the bomb was planted on a motorcycle in a bazaar where youths were trading motorbikes.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information, say more than 40 people also were wounded.
The escalation in violence is undermining Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's declaration of a "great victory" in the U.S. pullout from urban areas by Tuesday's deadline. He has declared June 30 a national holiday to be marked with celebrations.
